Assisted Living

Overview

Assisted Living Communities are licensed by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. Sometimes called licensed retirement communities, Life Plan Communities, or Continuing Care Retirement Communities, they are all licensed as Residential Care Faculties for the Elderly (RCFEs). They offer non-medical care assistance, memory care, medication management, socialization opportunities among other services. As an important part of the continuum of aging services, assisted living members benefit from LeadingAge California, and LeadingAge’s open learning environments and the opportunity to network with nonprofit providers. Members share what’s working, identify key innovations and how to implement them, and discover ways to expand their service offerings to improve the lives of older adults.
